Emerge is collaborating with Imagineer Productions to bring you Carnival - the meaning of mas with guest speaker Brian MacFarlane.

International award-winning master designer and carnival mas maker Brian MacFarlane joins Imagineer Productions in a unique collaboration leading up to the world premiere of Godiva Awakes* in 2012. Trinidad’s MacFarlane is no stranger to collaborative ventures, as a self-taught, self-made artist best known for his work as Carnival Designer, Artistic Director, Band Leader and five times successive winner of Carnival Band of the Year. On invitation from Imagineer, MacFarlane presents his lifetime involvement, passion and contribution to preserving and developing the tradition and art of Carnival.

Come along to share your creative ideas, meet potential collaborators or just meet people from other artforms. This event will be hosted at Ellen Terry Building, Coventry University, Jordan Well, Coventry City Centre. The Dance Generations project, a partnership between Activate and Dorset County Council, was designed specifically to provide opportunities for dance and movement for those who do not usually have access to it, due to age, health conditions, access requirements and financial limitations.Projects using dance have the dual benefits of promoting health and active physical engagement and promoting mental well-being through the joy of being involved in creative practice.

A Power House of Dance

Post: New Media & Marketing Officer
Salary: £21k - £23k pro rata (subject to experience)
Duration: Approx. 18 months, full time, from May 2011 to October 2012

DanceXchange is seeking a creative, proactive and motivated individual to develop and deliver effective new media and marketing campaigns across two ambitious large-scale dance programmes, driving public engagement in live performance events and an innovative digital project, and connecting people with the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games through dance.

Successful candidates will have significant practical experience and knowledge of managing online and social media systems/tools, strong copy-writing and proofreading skills, practical experience of producing/editing video, audio and image content, experience of developing and delivering successful on-line and off-line marketing campaigns, good attention to detail, excellent interpersonal skills, and an interest in dance.

Summer Dance Festival at Solihull Arts Complex


Solihull Arts Complex is holding its annual community dance showcase on Tuesday 24th and Wednesday 25th May 2011. This year, groups of all ages and dance styles from all around Solihull borough will come together to showcase the great work that they are doing. It promises to be an exciting and extremely varied programme!

The Balancing Man


Warwick Arts Centre’s own Boys Dancing is back. Under the title The Balancing Man, our young dancers have investigated the attitudes and expectations of masculinity, reflected on their own experiences of violence and vulnerability and deliberated the problems faced by Mother Earth. They have created new dance that explores their dreams, ideas and solutions for the future.
