New apprenticeship roles at 2Faced Dance Company




Apprentice Dance Development Artist
£8,000 Bursary; Contract – 1 year, 30 hours per week

Apprentice Dance Performance Artist
£1,000 Fee; Contract – 4 - 5 weeks over 10 months

2Faced Dance Company seeks two Apprentice Dance Artists to work with our Dance Development Team on our hr1 performance and learning programme for communities and schools in 2011/12. hr1 is a large scale, innovative dance project being delivered across Herefordshire as part of the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad by 2Faced Dance Company. Both Apprentice roles involve working alongside two emerging choreographers to create and perform two danceworks for a small schools tour and the final torch lit performance in June 2012.

DanceXchange is seeking an energetic and motivated individual to develop links with community groups, agencies and networks in Birmingham and the West Midlands, with a view to generating high levels of public engagement and participation in two major dance programmes, connecting people with the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games through dance.

Successful candidates will have outstanding communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills; excellent presentation skills; sound organisational skills; substantial experience of engaging communities in cultural activity and meeting participation targets; and an enthusiasm for the arts.

Dancers needed for Keneish Dance

Keneish Dance is a thriving African Contemporary & Contemporary Dance Company, founded in 2009 by Choreographer, Dancer and Practitioner Keisha Grant. To date the Company has performed at many high profile events at Theatres including Stratford Circus, Sadler’s Wells, Patrick Centre, National Exhibition Centre (NEC), Robin Howard Theatre, The Drum and The Repertory Theatre.

Keneish Dance are looking for dancers to join the company to take part in a research and development period for a collaborative Dance installation project. This will take place in Birmingham, and will tour in 2012.

Dancers must have strong Contemporary technique, the ability to embody African or Street Dance techniques, as well as strong performance skills.

Closing date for applications is 4th July. Audition to take place mid July in Birmingham. R&D in August.

Research and Development fee: £375 per week

Call for Dance Artists: Staffordshire

The Dance Development Group for Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent (DDG) is looking for exceptional dance artists to join the team of artists involved in Get Dancing! a Staffordshire wide project for the Cultural Olympiad.

The DDG is offering choreographic commissions to produce a range of performance based dance projects in various locations across Staffordshire under the artistic direction of Filip Van Huffell, Artistic Director, Retina Dance Company through an artistic mentorship programme.

Working in one specified location in Staffordshire, Dance artists will devise and produce a series of workshops over 12 weeks which will develop into 5 performance based projects starting in either September 2011 (Phase 1) or January 2012 (Phase 2).

The production of live dance will culminate in a series of district dance events (Jan – July 2012) as well as the county showcase in July/August 2012.

The performance based projects will be supported by a range of outreach workshops which will engage with communities across Staffordshire and provide appropriate participation events which will recruit dancers for the project.

Period of Commission: September 2011 – July/ August 2012
Artist Fee: £5,000 (fee to include all expenses)
Deadline for applications: 20th June 2011
Interview Date: W/C 27th June

Dance Artist needed for Carnival project

'Carnival' is an Awards for All Lottery Funded project in Bedworth. The project started in April 2011 and will run through until April 2012. 'Carnival' will create a performance inspired by aspects of the carnival, using drama, dance, circus skills & music.


An opportunity has arisen on the project for a dance artist who might be interested in working with a community group of adults with learning difficulties. This is a paid opportunity.


Aims of the project:
· enable members to acquire new skills
· provide a safe environment for members to build confidence & self esteem
· extend performances to reach the wider community
· enable members to pass on newly acquired skills to other groups or general public
· enhance the profile of adults with learning difficulties

New Board Members Required

Motionhouse has seen enormous growth over the last 23 years and are established as one of the UK’s most successful touring dance companies. From full length productions for theatre touring, to large scale dance spectacles we create and deliver an extraordinary range of performances, acclaimed for striking use of imagery, theatricality and immediate impact.

The company currently have a number of vacancies to join our Board of Directors and are looking for committed individuals who are able to give the necessary time, energy and dedication to the company through the next stages of our exciting international development. Motionhouse have already a substantial range of skills at the disposal of the company and after recently completing a skills audit of our current Board Members have identified some specific skills they would like to recruit.

The company would be helped by the addition of Strategic Business and Legal experience and skills at Board level, and would especially welcome applications from individuals who can link Motionhouse to international performance and production opportunities, and people with experience in taking artistic productions to wider markets through national and international production, presentation and touring and developing e-commerce opportunities for the company. Ideally, therefore, the company are seeking to attract people with specific experience in these areas and are keen to hear from anyone who can offer these skills and connections.

The company are very open to people whose life experience might yield skills from unexpected sources, and are keen to make further connections, especially in the business and commercial worlds. They are also looking for some people sufficiently senior and networked to help lead their increasing national and international developments.

Motionhouse already have a strong and dynamic board and hope that individuals might be able to help them further build and strengthen this work, either through your own skills or by passing this information on to people you know.


The usual commitment required of Board Members is as follows:



  • To attend quarterly Board meetings, usually on a weekday evening, which last approximately 2 -2.5 hours. One meeting per annum includes the company’s AGM and is generally held within working hours in October/November

  • To be on one of the sub committees and/or planning group that meet as and when required by the programme and business planning

  • To attend events

  • To support the development of Motionhouse
